<p>With the organizers of the Australian Open in January announcing on Friday a 13 percent increase in the total payout to Aus$86.5 million (US$59.0 million), players will be vying for a record prize pool.</p>

<p>The first Grand Slam of the year will see a payout of Aus$3.150 million for the men’s and women’s champions, with players who were defeated in previous rounds and made it through qualification faring better than previously.</p>
<p>Players who lose in the first round will earn a rise of 13 percent to Aus$120,000, while those who lose in the second round will receive an additional 180,00%.</p>

<p>Players who are eliminated in the first qualifying round will still get Aus$31,250.</p>
<p>An additional $10 million has been allocated in total for the 2024 tournament.</p>
<p>Craig Tiley, the tournament director, said that it was essential to guarantee that “the best players in the world are compensated appropriately.”</p>
<p>He said, “We know this helps players invest in their own careers and often sets them up for success throughout the year.”</p>
<p>“We want to make sure that Australia continues to serve as the starting point for the tennis season around the world and that the players and their teams have all they require to play at their peak levels and take pleasure in the Happy Slam.”</p>
<p>Starting on January 14 at Melbourne Park, the tournament’s prize money has more than quadrupled in the last ten years.</p>
