Indian Wells Open: Iga Swiatek Overcomes Linda Noskova in Two Sets to Get Her Retribution


<p>Iga Swiatek defeated Czech Linda Noskova 6-4, 6-0 on Sunday to go to the ATP-WTA Indian Wells Masters fourth round. Swiatek was seeking swift retribution for a setback she suffered in January.</p>

<p>Just a few weeks before, the 29th-ranked opponent stunned the top-seeded Polish player in the third round of the Australian Open.</p>
<p>World No. 1 Swiatek of California bounced back from an early break loss to Noskova, 19, tying the score at four all and winning the rest of the third-round match.</p>
<p>“The beginning was really intense,” the four-time Grand Slam winner said. “I was searching for opportunities to strike back.”</p>
<p>“I maintained my optimism and knew they would arrive. I was ready to even the score and secure the victory.</p>
<p>With the Czechs, the 2022 tournament winner increased to 14-4. She then faces Yulia Putintseva, the American champion, and Madison Keys.</p>
<p>The 11th-seeded Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Frances Tiafoe 6-3, 6-3 in the men’s draw, eliminating a favorite among the local audience.</p>
